Pierced by Sydney Landon
Lucian Quinn is the wonder boy of the business world. At twenty-nine, he owns one of the hottest software companies in the world. Personally, his life has been filled with tragedy and loss. He has learned to use his hate to survive and even thrive professionally, but his demons are always there, lurking just out of sight.
Lia Adams is a college student who has suffered through years of abuse at home to get to where she is today. She has done whatever was necessary to survive, including working as an escort for Date Night to pay for her education. Her life changes forever the day that Lucian Quinn’s friend convinces him to hire an escort for an important business dinner.
Circumstances bring two people that should have never crossed paths together and in the days and weeks ahead, they grow close quickly, each seeing a kindred soul in the other. As ghosts from their past rise to haunt them, they cling to each other as their lives start to spiral out of control. Soon, they realize that they’re both damaged possibly beyond repair. Will their love be what saves or destroys them?
This book is meant for mature readers who are 18+. It contains explicit language, and graphic sexual content.
**Book 1 of the Lucian & Lia Trilogy. Lucian and Lia’s story will continue in Fractured before concluding in Mended.**
What starts out as a date for hire to keep the “sharks at bay”, rapidly turns into so much more.
~ Lia ~ “He captivates me, and I’m so far out of my depth its absurd. I should walk away now…no, I should run.” But she can’t, and neither can Lucian. Their attraction is instant. “Lucian…I don’t even know you. What are we doing?” Lia is living in the moment of this relationship, accepting that it may not go very far, yet, enjoying every moment while it lasts. She’s a pretty strong character, easily relatable, yet weak when it comes to all things Lucian. “Sexy, casual Lucian is deadly, and I want to puddle at his feet in a needy heap.”
~Lucian ~ “I don’t know Lia, but I can’t stop.” An as Lia says, “It seems we are both powerless to understand or explain this attraction between us and unable to stop freefalling into the unknown.” Lucian wasn’t planning on anything more with Lia beyond that one date, however, things don’t always work out like we plan…..do they? “Watching this beautiful butterfly come out of her cocoon fascinates me. I am enthralled by her and scared out of my ever loving mind.”
Bottom line……”we are two people damaged by our pasts that clicked together like dominoes the moment we met. Two lost souls drawn together by the scars of the other.”
I have always enjoyed Sydney Landon’s writing. It’s so easy to connect with her characters, get wrapped up in her stories, and lose track of time until you’ve hit the last page. The only negative for me in Pierced is that the sex, albeit hot, was a bit much and repetitive. WHAT????? You ask?? I felt it took something away from Lucian & Lia’s story, but not so much that it would cause me to not recommend reading Pierced. Bring on winter 2014 for the next installment of Lucian & Lia’s story.

Sydney gives us Lucian and Lia’s mixed POVs in their story. Lucian and Lia both have haunting pasts that they’re hesitant to open up about. Lia seems ever the innocent but when she opens her mouth, her words will shock you. The way Lucian deflects sharing his past became frustrating when I see how open Lia is being with him. I want to see both them giving their all and I didn’t get this from him in the communication department. The pain an suffering Lia experienced growing up and has to relive to face her demons is heartbreaking. Her strength, bravery, and courage shine brightly in her life through her choices. The disgust and hate I feel to the person that inflicted this pain is real, as though I was part of Lia’s support system. The angst level in this novel went from a level 5 to a 10 in the last 2 chapters. I didn’t like this huge cliffhanger at the end, but hopefully we won’t have too long to wait for the second book in the series. The attraction between Lucian and Lia was hot, yet repetitive, but also provided me with nice visuals! Give this a try and find your next crush! Rating: 3.5 stars
