I can’t remember a time when I fell in love with a character so fast and then fell out of love and into hate and then right back in love all in what seemed like the blink of an eye. A beautiful story written so seamlessly, so flawlessly, it will stay with me for quite some time.
Ben + Fallon = An amazing story for the ages.
Ben + Fallon = A one of a kind story
Ben + Fallon = “The truth is an excruciatingly painful son of a bitch”
Ben + Fallon = “I’m not finished falling in love with you yet”
Ben + Fallon = A must read!

The blood of my heart was pumping, fueling the rapid succession, soaking up Ben & Fallon’s words like a sponge. Then I felt the beating stutter, hesitate as the blood was squeezed dry from the sponge. Apply this to my heart feeling overly full with love and fate and dreams to then experiencing heartbreak and pain and goodbyes that burns for thirst, it’s oxygen. My heart went through the wringer with November 9 and it was damn well worth it, every letter in each word, every sigh breathed, every scar left uncovered, and every tear shed. There’s a story within a story of a girl and boy. But it’s not just a story, it’s real, their lives, their scars. I can’t. I’m not making sense. But I get it. I just want to start all over and read it again. NOVEMBER 9 is NOW my all time favorite of Colleen’s. Each and every novel of Colleen’s has me thinking the exact same thought: “This book is unique, authentic. I’ve never read anything like it.” The plotline, subplot, everything. It’s original. This started with Slammed and has held true with all of her novels (and novellas) since. Like she’s an inventor, the highest score in your favorite video game, the puppeteer of your emotions and she sets the par for all others. This. This is why Colleen’s novels are part of a select group of authors that I will stop everything to read. So this is my review. If you do anything, I hope you haven’t read through all of this review because instead of reading this, you should be reading November 9. Rinse. And repeat. Give this a try and you WILL find your next book crush!! Rating: 5 stars
I like to pick up a book without any expectations so that I do form any preconceived opinions on the story. I typically don’t read reviews and when I do I do not let them interfere with the potential of discovery something amazing on my own.
Hoover’s writing is simplistically beautiful. She makes her writing feel effortless and natural. The pages flow, the story builds, the characters become part of you, and the reader becomes invested and experiences the novel beyond reading the words on a page.
The author’s talent is really unique and each story is its own. I admire that this author doesn’t keep tapping the same source with her characters and Novemer 9 is no different. This story is new and fresh. It’s an individual. The characters in this story are complex yet simple.
Starting November 9, I was easily spellbound. From the first page, I could tell this story was going to be extraordinary. I was experiencing Fallon and Ben’s story and couldn’t wait to see what November 9 would bring next. To see these two grow and mature over the years as their story evolved felt real. There was so much hope and genuineness to their words. Really this was mesmerizing and I was anxious to see when the other shoe would drop. I felt the anxiety build. Honestly I started feeling worried about November 9. While I loved this story, I was disappointed with the dramatic twist. I can’t say I was caught by surprise, but I felt it was unnecessary or became an almost forgone conclusion to the story. It was almost drama for the sake of drama. This twist made me go “huh”. Although I didn’t care for this twist, I can say that it was executed with excellence in that the story continued to develop and didn’t go completely off the rails. It’s hard to articulate how this twist impacted the emotional and literary high I was on but it brought it down a notch and the cloud I was riding dissipated slightly.
Overall, November 9 made my heart swell, my eyes leak and my brain smile. November 9 may soon become your favorite day and this book may possibly be your next favorite. Give this a try and discover your next book crush!! 4.0 Stars
